Upcoming Major Initiatives

SEDS Canada Ascension Conference 2017

Ascension is SEDS-Canada’s annual flagship event, which is hosted by one our chapters every year at their local institution. Ascension 2017 will be hosted by the University of Toronto Aerospace Team (UTAT), one of largest chapters in the country, from March 3rd to 5th in the vibrant city of Toronto. The conference will attract more than 100 students in the Great Toronto Area (GTA), as well as other parts of Ontario and out of province. Our conference creates an excellent atmosphere for companies to network and recruit graduates of the best caliber in engineering, science and other space-related disciplines.

Our conference theme exemplifies the road-map required to launch future missions to remote places within the solar system, and focuses on the critical technologies, human capabilities and policy framework that will facilitate taking humans beyond Low Earth Orbit (LEO) to visit an asteroid, the Moon and Mars

Our three-day conference is packed with talks from international and local speakers from industry and academia. Ascension 2017 offers a unique opportunity for  students  to  interact  with  their  peers  and  speakers.  Our  space  entrepreneurship  competition  will  take  place  on  Saturday  afternoon,  and  the  winners  will  be announced at our Awards Banquet. Sunday will include the Young Space Leaders Round-table and elections for the 2016-17 Board of Directors as students look to the future and get energized to flourish in the year ahead.
